Esentepe - The sunset, nature and golf
Esentepe is located 20 km east of the tourist town of Kyrenia. It is a quiet area that but has life and activity all year round. Many Scandinavians and Northern Europeans choose their homes in this particular area. Esentepe is surrounded by beautiful nature and fine beaches and offers a wide range of restaurants, bars, shops and all necessary services. Esentepe is also home to North Cyprus’ largest golf club, Korineum Golf & Beach Resort, with an 18-hole championship course in beautiful surroundings. The golf club has several restaurants, tennis club, hotel, spa and its own swimming beach, open to the public.
If you like hiking, you should head up to the Five Finger Mountains. Here you can breathe in the fresh scent of pine forest while walking on nature trails lined with history and ancient ruins. From the top you have an unbeatable view of the Mediterranean, and clear days even to the Turkish mainland!
Esentepe has plenty of local restaurants and bars. If you take a car ride or walk along the coast you will encounter several on the road. Should you ever yearn for city life, Kyrenia is only a 20 minute drive away. If you cross the mountain range and head out East, it is also not far from Famagusta, a historic town surrounded by long sunny beaches. Esentepe is also in the right direction for those who want to visit the National Park area Karpaz on the eastern tip of Cyprus.
